Virtua Health Case Study - Electronic Data Management Success Stories

This seminar showcases how the implementation of emsCharts in one Health System in New Jersey has produced quantifiable improvements in registration and billing processes, documentation, and patient care.  For the case study, Scott offers some compelling real-life examples of how the streamlined and near real-time processes have saved time, money, and lives.

Scott Kasper is the Corporate Director of Emergency Services for Virtua Health in Mount Laurel, New Jersey.  Virtua responds to over 50,000 calls per year and use emsCharts, Geocoding, CAD import, emsCharts Mobile, and Mobile EKG interface.

Panel Discussion: Selected Topics on Data Collection & Management

NEW for 2009!

This session will put our expert panel "on-the-spot" by asking them questions on data collection and management as it relates to emsCharts.  We will request input from our attendees prior to the User Conference date to develop the topics, so get your questions ready!

Course Descriptions

Track 1 - Administrative Interests

For Administrators and Advanced Users who would like to improve their operational processes through emsCharts

Data Validation

Are your crews not entering important information?  Configuring closed-call rules can eliminate this problem.  Closed-call rules may be applied to any aspect of the PCR, i.e. billing, operations, and clinical matters.  You can ensure the information you want to be documented is documented.  Topics may include: How to enter your desired protocol; Making rules; Setting Actions; Working with Time fields; Required vs. Reports vs. Warnings; How crews will view the results.

Quality Assurance

Do you ever wish you could view only specific calls?  Do you know whether crew members need process or procedure reviews?  Are you unsure how to get the correct people doing what they need to do?  This workshop will discuss setting up the various QA levels for your service and how to execute the process.  Whether your service does 90 calls or 90,000 calls, QA should be a part of the plan.  Topics may include: How to set QA levels and configure users; Using QA Report in Code Tables; How to view number of charts on Dashboard/Home Page; How to enter a flag; How to clear a flag; QA Report on Patient Records page.

Custom Reporting - Bring your Laptop!

Custom reporting is probably the most complicated function of emsCharts.  Once you tackle the configuration, a tremendous amount of data can be queried and returned - empowering the user.  Attendees may find it helpful to follow along in their own service, so bring your laptop!  Topic may include: How to create a simple custom report; Criteria for each report; Layout for your final output; Testing reports; Scheduling reports; Copying and editing Custom Reports.

Track 2 - Special Topics

For users who would like to get more out of the additional modules included with their subscriptions

NEMSIS Compliance

The National EMS Information System has created a standard for electronic collection of patient data.  emsCharts is certified as a NEMSIS Gold Compliant system for data collection.  This session will discuss what this means and how to know whether you are, or need to be, NEMSIS compliant for your state.

Human Resources & Certification Tracking

The Human Resources module and Certification Tracking module are both included as standard features with your emsCharts subscription.  This session will provide an introduction to both, and discuss how each can be used to benefit your service.

Continuing Education

The Continuing Education Module is a standard feature included with your emsCharts subscription.  Deb McCoy from University of Pittsburgh Medical Center will show you how their Pre-Hospital Department uses the emsCharts CE module to reach all of their providers.
