Innovative
Emergency Medical Data Software Now Available for Mobile Devices
emsCharts Mobile
software allows offline electronic pre-hospital data collection,
for increased
speed and dependability
WEST MIFFLIN,
Penn. –- November 29, 2005 – emsCharts staff today announced that
their mobile software for Tablet and Laptop PC is now available.
emsCharts Mobile is the offline version of emsCharts, which is the
web-based hub of the EMS management product suite. While
emsCharts remains the central component of the suite of pre-hospital
data solutions, the supplemental emsCharts Mobile now gives
emergency first responders the full functionality of the Internet
version while offline. When an Internet connection is not
convenient, or when documentation at patient bedside is required,
emsCharts Mobile can be used by first responders to record
electronic patient care information until the data can be uploaded
to emsCharts.
In the past,
pre-hospital care providers such as EMTs used pen and paper to
complete lengthy and detailed pre-hospital reports in the field.
emsCharts helped to pioneer electronic patient data collection with
the use of the Web to connect first responders with hospitals and
state and local reporting agencies; thus expediting the entire
process and leaving more time to focus on patients’ needs. The
web-based emsCharts, however, did not provide a way to collect
information when an Internet connection was not convenient. Now,
using emsCharts Mobile software on a mobile device such as a Tablet
PC, first responders can enter data more quickly and
efficiently—independent of Internet connectivity. When an Internet
connection is made available, the information can then be uploaded
to emsCharts for processing and dissemination.
“We are excited about
the addition of emsCharts Mobile to our product suite,” says Pete
Goutmann, Vice President and founder of emsCharts. “We’re
complementing our core emsCharts management solution by offering the
pre-hospital provider bedside documentation and support tools.
Delivering data in real time to the receiving facility and giving
the provider clinical assistance in the field will ultimately
provide our customers with the ability to improve healthcare in
their communities.”
Installing emsCharts
Mobile on a Windows Tablet XP platform allows the flexibility of
mobile patient charting and data collection while providing advanced
features such as touch-screen technology for easy one-touch
navigation; handwriting recognition, signature support, and a
freehand notepad; and wireless transfer abilities between devices
allowing on-scene data sharing.
