emsCharts Awarded 2010 Innovations in EMS Recognition for
SyncPen Product
EMS World's Top Innovations Awards presented in Austin, TX

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -December 2, 2010 - At this year's Texas EMS Conference, EMS World announced winners of their annual "Top Innovations in EMS" awards. emsCharts, Inc. proudly accepted this honor for their recently launched emsCharts SyncPen product for emergency medical patient documentation. The emsCharts SyncPen combines a real ink pen with smart pen technology, which allows handwritten forms to be transcribed directly into an electronic patient record in emsCharts.com.

Scott Cravens of EMS World presented this year's honors at the ceremony in Austin, Texas on November 22nd. On hand to accept the award for emsCharts, Inc. was Director of Sales, Greg Howard. emsCharts partnered with Microtech Systems in the United Kingdom to develop and refine the digital pen for the EMS arena. Also present at the ceremony was Grant Hook, CEO of Microtech Systems. "We are thrilled to be recognized by the EMS community for our application of this technology in the emergency medical setting," says Hook. "We are providing a product that we believe will make the jobs and lives of EMS providers easier, which in turn will improve overall patient care. To receive acknowledgement for this is a great feeling."

The emsCharts SyncPen captures digital snapshots of handwriting, including the time each pen stroke was made and on what form it was documented. When the form is complete, the EMS responder taps a box on the paper form to trigger the data upload to emsCharts servers. Each data element is pulled in electronically to the patient record and is available for further reporting and analysis in emsCharts.com. An exact digital copy of the form is attached to the electronic patient record in the system for complete documentation of the EMS call. Since all of the data is stored in the pen, and subsequently in emsCharts, the written form can be left with the patient at the hospital.
